New Hanover County Courthouse evacuated after bomb threat; no device found

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Courthouse was evacuated Thursday morning due to a bomb threat.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a bomb threat at the courthouse. Deputies searched the building but found no trace of a bomb.

Heavy police presence was seen at the courthouse including the bomb squad.

Princess Street in Wilmington between 5th, 4th and 3rd Streets, including Market Street were blocked near the courthouse.

Many of the hearings scheduled for Thursday will go on as normal but some may be continued due to the delay.
