WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — New Hanover County Manager Chris Coudriet will recommend a 5-cent property tax increase in his proposed 2015-16 budget, which will be presented to the county commissioners Monday.

That Coudriet is proposing a tax increase isn’t a surprise, since the manager has been blunt in the past that the county’s current property tax rate isn’t generating enough revenue to cover all of its financial obligations.

At Thursday’s pre-agenda meeting, Chairman Jonathan Barfield said the manager’s proposed budget – along with a capital-improvement plan for the next four years – will be presented to the board at next week’s meeting.
