NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — More now on a story we told you about on Tuesday.
Newcomers school is an umbrella term for a school for foreign-born students who have recently arrived in the United States.
If the decision is made to establish one, it is expected to replace the Career Readiness Academy at Mosley, scheduled to close at the end of this academic year.
On Tuesday, New Hanover County Commissioner Dane Scalise shared his disapproval of the concept.
On Wednesday a New Hanover County Schools spokesperson commented on the concept.
The district released a statement, which reads:
“New Hanover County Schools is dedicated to providing our students with the opportunity for a superb education in a safe and positive learning environment.
