New Hanover DA announces sentences in multiple Wilmington cases

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office announced several cases have been resolved, with three men sentenced for separate incidents.

23-year-old Zahmir Hudson of Wilmington received a 4-year sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of attempted trafficking of heroin, possession of a stolen firearm, and carrying a concealed gun.

Hudson’s sentence can last up to 7 years.

39-year-old Dustin Wilburn pleaded guilty to breaking into a Wilmington hotel and robbing an employee last year and was sentenced to between 7 and 9 years.

Another person, Noah Hite, was sentenced in connection to the same incident last November.

And 52-year-old Shan Morant of Wilmington was sentenced to 20 years on two counts of habitual larceny.

A jury also found Morant had achieved the status of being a habitual felon, due to a long list of prior convictions, including 5 previous convictions of misdemeanor larceny, 2 convictions of felony larceny, and 5 convictions of assault against a woman.
