New Hanover football game moved to Thursday night

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With a threat of a tropical system by the end of the week, an area school’s football game has been moved up one night.

According to Director of Athletics Keith Moore, New Hanover High School’s game at Havelock will now be played Thursday night. Kickoff is 7 p.m. The game was scheduled for Friday, but the forecast track of what is now Tropical Depression #9 could bring the storm toward eastern North Carolina Friday.

With the varsity game moved to Thursday, New Hanover’s and Havelock’s JV squads will now play in Wilmington Wednesday. Kickoff for that game at Legion Stadium is 6:30 p.m.
