New Hanover Wildcats about to run into explosive Hillside Hornets

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover defeated West Johnston 24-17 last Friday in round two of the high school football state playoffs. The Wildcats will host Durham Hillside on Friday in round three of the playoffs at 7:30 at Legion Stadium. Hillside defeated Hoggard 42-14 last week.

“I knew West Johnston was going to be a formidable opponent with coach Williams and the job he does there,” Earl Smith told us WWAY before practice on Monday. “To come from behind twice against them that’s pretty good stuff.” Your biggest challenge this Friday versus Hillside will be? “Their team speed. I don’t think we’ve seen that type of team speed they have, even against Scotland County.”
