New lifeguard towers headed to North Myrtle Beach beaches
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WPDE) — Lifeguards in North Myrtle Beach received a major upgrade to assist in patrolling the beaches for the coming beach season.
“Anything that would help them do their job, we’re all for it,” said Joe Legros who lives in North Myrtle Beach.
The new lifeguard towers will replace two of the older traditional lifeguard stands and stand 14 feet tall.
“What a zero tower is, is basically a larger lifeguard tower with a larger observation point where they can oversee an entire stretch of beach area,” said Beach Patrol Supervisor, Monty Reed.
