New non-profit holds Dance-a-Thon fundraiser

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A new Wilmington non-profit held it’s first fundraiser event of the year in the form of a dance-a-thon.

Gifted in rhythm and life also known as “GiRL” focuses on youth enrichment in the community.The event featured zumba, line dances and other fitness activities to promote healthy lifestyles.

“The purpose of the dance-a-thon is to promote our non-profit, but also to provide an avenue for fun fitness, give our ladies an opportunity to perform in front of a diverse crowd, and to help local small businesses,” McNeil said.

Various small businesses set up booths outside the dance-a-thon theater. McNeil says GiRL teaches young girls from all over Wilmington and hopes to expand to surrounding counties in the near future.
