New piano bar opens in downtown Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A new bar called Tempo 33 Piano Bar held its grand opening Friday night.
The bar is located on the third floor of the building which also contains the Husk and Yosake.
1 month ago, a small fire broke out in a building on South Front Street in downtown Wilmington.
It happened on the second floor.
As a result of the fire, the building’s water suppression system caused damage which resulted in the temporary closure of the Husk on the first floor and Yosake on the second floor.
The Husk reopened earlier this week, and Yosake plans to reopen soon
Co-owner Clayton Gsell said they were going for a unique feel for the new bar.
“So it’s a historic building,” Gsell said. “We wanted a sort of upscale, boujee feel so we were able to work with some amazing designers in town. And so as you see, we have interesting furniture, some modern, some contemporary against the 200-year-old brick wall. And it just has a really nice vibe to it, which is what we were after.”
Gsell added that the excitement about the new bar, along with the Husk and Yosak reopening has been great to see.
“We feel really lucky,” Gsell said. “The community ahs been so supportive of us. Even as late as today, people were trying to get reservations for Yosake and saying wow, we’re excited for you to get back open, we’ve missed you. The same thing about Husk, people here are excited, its like wow, we’re excited there’s a piano bar back in town.”
Along with Gsell, NC State Men’s Basketball head coach Kevin Keatts is a co-owner of the businesses.
The Husk is currently open in a limited capacity and Yosake is set to reopen on Monday, August 19th.
