New ticket update for drivers using Front Street during rush hour

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The time for receiving a warning is over.  Now you could get a ticket if you’re driving through the construction zone at Front Street and Carolina Beach Road in Wilmington.

The North Carolina Port Authority is ticketing drivers who don’t obey the trucking ordinance.

During the hours of  7:00 AM – 10:00 AM southbound and 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM northbound, traffic is restricted to only trucks heading to and from the state port and buses.

According to the state port, the ticket that could be given is a State of North Carolina, New Hanover County citation for violation of posted DOT truck ordinance.

Tickets will only be given during those prohibited times.

A section of Third Street/Burnett Boulevard is closed until the end of the year for the Greenfield Lake culvert project.
