New treatment facility coming to Brunswick County receives state grant
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A former community hospital in Southern Brunswick County is being transformed into a new detox and treatment facility.
The new treatment facility will be housed in the building that used to be the Brunswick Community Hospital, and its surrounding offices.
The space will offer 24 detox beds and 120 residential in-patient beds.
Medaci Wellness Institute is the company behind the new facility. They say the treatment center will also offer 170 jobs to the surrounding community.
Carla Colflesh with Medaci Wellness Institute said they hope to close a coverage gap in Brunswick County.
“Majority of us have worked in the field for quite some time, I’ll just say 20 plus years, and we wanted to be able to provide a service that was really needed in a county that really needed it,” Colflesh said.
The project received a $250,000 grant from the state through the Rural Infrastructure Authority.
The new facility is set to open in 2026.
