New TV show takes another look at 30 year old murder
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A terrible crime more than 30 years old is getting more eyes on it, thanks to the release of a brand new TV show.
The pilot episode of the Sword and Scale show, named after the popular true crime podcast, looked at the 1990 murder of Talana Kreeger here in Wilmington.
The episode includes interviews with District Attorney Ben David, family and friends of Kreeger’s and Tad Ballis, creator of the award winning documentary “Park View”, which also looked at what happened to Kreeger.
Ash Patino is the creator of the TV show.
She said it meant a lot getting to know people like Talana’s friends, who continue to honor her.
“That in this horrifying tragedy, this unimaginable crime that people are able to somehow come together and to create something beautiful from it,” Patino said. “And I thought that was what really impressive is that the way her friends remembered her and honored her and really, I think tried to make sure the same thing that happened to Talana wouldn’t happen to somebody else.”
