NHCS board terminates Superintendent Dr. Charles Foust’s contract effective immediately

NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY) — The New Hanover County School Board unanimously voted Tuesday night to terminate the contract of Superintendent Dr. Charles Foust.
Following several hours of discussion, the school board went into a closed session. When they resumed the public session of the meeting, a motion was made by Board Member Pat Bradford.
“I move to unilaterality terminate the Superintendent’s contract effective immediately pursuit to paragraph 14 of the Superintendent’s contract appointing Dr. Chris Barnes as acting superintendent immediately until such a time a superintendent can be selected by board vote,” Bradford said.
The motion was seconded and all members present voted “yes.” The motion passed 5-0.
Board members Stephanie Kraybill and Josie Barnhart were not present at the meeting.
