NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office announced that K9 Oscar has died.

The sheriff’s office says that K9 Oscar began serving with the Sheriff’s Office in 2016. He excelled as a dual-purpose narcotics and apprehension K9. Working alongside his handler, Master Deputy M. Hook, the duo achieved numerous successful drug seizures and criminal apprehensions, contributing significantly to the safety and security of our community.

Unfortunately, in 2022, K9 Oscar was retired due to an injury sustained in the line of duty.

He loved chewing on his favorite bone, playing with toys, exploring the outdoors, and relaxing on the couch with his family.
