NHRMC prepares to open northern satellite location

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover Regional Medical Center is opening a new emergency department in the northern part of the county next week.

The facility is supposed to take some of the strain off of the other hospitals in the county.

Officials say it will house a full-service, 24-hour emergency department, as well as a diagnostics center where you can schedule regular check-ups and other non-emergency services including x-rays, mammograms, ultrasounds and more.

“It’s a full service, emergency department, so we will be able to take all comers,” Dr. De Winter. “This place was designed to be able to provide care no matter what out numbers are. We will triage obviously the most sick patients first but then everyone will receive care.”
