NHSO: Suspect arrested on multiple child sexual offense charges
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says a man has been arrested on multiple child sexual offense charges following an investigation that began after a minor reported unlawful sexual contact.
According to the sheriff’s office, detectives determined that the suspect, Alexis Uriel Jimenez Santiago, 25, had communicated with the victim through social media. After the initial incident, investigators say Jimenez Santiago attempted to contact the victim again to solicit additional illegal sexual activity.
Detectives then arranged a second meeting. When Jimenez Santiago arrived expecting to meet the minor, investigators were waiting and took him into custody without incident, according to the release.
Jimenez Santiago is charged with statutory sex offense with a child 15 or younger, indecent liberties with a child, and solicitation of a minor. He is being held at the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $500,000 secured bond.
