North Brunswick hosts JROTC Tri-Meet

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Today North Brunswick High School hosted 25 different schools for the JROTC Tri-Meet.

The meet featured schools from Georgia, Delaware and right here in North Carolina, including our local schools.

Cadets demonstrated drill and ceremony, air rifle and raider.

The schools competed to see who was the best overall in the JROTC program.

Colonel Steven Baker, Senior Army Instructor from North Brunswick High School, says this program is about more than just winning this competition.

“A lot of them come from a lot of varied backgrounds and this gives them a chance to be a part of something bigger than themselves and to focus on something outside of their school and family life that can give them a sense of being part of a team.” Col. Baker said.

Colonel Baker says that he loves to see the support and growth of the event for its 15th year.
