BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A judge sentenced a man to life in prison without the possibility of parole for murder.

The sentence follows a jury taking less than an hour Thursday to find Jim Robert Goins, 46, guilty of first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Goins killed Kenneth Covell in East Arcadia on August 18th, 2020.

Covell’s body was found partially dismembered in the Cape Fear River four days later, about six miles from where he was dumped off the bridge on Highway 11.
