Novant Health and Pender County team up to give out free health screenings

Burgaw, NC (WWAY)– As the holiday season is approaching, some early presents in form of health care for residents in Pender County.

Novant Health and Pender County Health Department, brought together community organizations and residents in observance of National Rural Health Day.

Held at the Pender County Health Department, it featured educational resources, and more importantly, free health care screenings for everybody who attended.

Ruth Glaser, President of Novant Health Pender Medical Center, says the company is trying to bring health care facilities closer to outlying areas.

“We also have a free-standing express care in Rocky Point. Just about 10 miles away from the main campus. We want to bring care closer to home so that people can stay here locally, if they don’t have to go to the emergency department, they don’t have to. That clinic is open seven days a week from eight in the morning to seven in the evening”, said Glaser.
