Novant Health to hold medication drop off drive-thru on Saturday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — If you have any old or unused medication, you can drop them off at Novant Health this weekend.

Novant Health will be holding a medication drop-off drive-thru at 2 locations this weekend.

Along with medication, Novant will accept other items like needles, controlled substances, IV bags and even vapes, as long as the batteries have been taken out.

All dropped medication will then be incinerated, with no personal information kept by Novant.

Madeleine Hill is a pharmacy resident with Novant and said this event allows for the safe disposal of medication.

“So the med take back event is important cause it can keep our medications in safe hands so if patients aren’t using medications and they need to be disposed of, this is a proper way to do so to protect our environment and to also protect the medications that they have on hand,” Hill said.

You can drop off items between 10 am and 2 pm at Novant Health New Hanover Medical Plaza at 2243 S 17th Street or Novant Health Scotts Hill Outpatient Surgery Center at 9104 Market St.
