Oak Island announces parking changes for 2025 season

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — During their January 14 meeting, Oak Island Town Council finalized program updates for the 2025 Paid Parking Season, which will once again run from April 1 – September 30.
Resident parking permits will remain at $10 per Permit with a limit of three permits, and temporary parking permits will remain unchanged at a cost of: $5 an hour, $20 a day, and $80 a week.
Season parking permits will increase by $50 to a cost of $225 per Permit. The total limit of season permits sold will remain unchanged at 1,500.
Bulk parking permits will increase by $50 to a costs of:
- $225 per Permit for the first four (4) permits
- $375 for the 5th Permit and beyond
The total limit of Bulk Season Permits sold will remain unchanged at 500.
The Pier Complex Parking Lot at 705 Ocean Drive will no longer use in-ground sensors to monitor the 2-hour free parking period, and will switch to vehicle-based scanning instead.
Resident-only parking spaces will continue to be enforced by Otto Connect staff from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. daily, but now at a reduced cost to the Town, due to higher than anticipated revenues. A total of 100 regular paid parking spaces will be converted to resident-only parking spaces.
Sales of season and bulk parking permits will start at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, January 20.
