Crews respond to house fire in Oak Island

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — A house fire broke out at 319 NE 54th St. in Oak Island Saturday afternoon. According to the Oak Island Fire Department, the call came in at 2:09 p.m., with crews arriving within five minutes. The fire also caused damage to two homes at 317 and 321 NE 54th St.
Responding crews worked for nearly one hour to contain the fire. The fire was extinguished around 3:30 p.m. The homes at 317 and 319 NE 54th St. both had at least two occupants at the time of the fire. All occupants were able to evacuate before the fire spread.
The home at 319 NE 54th St. was declared a total loss, with the possibility of 317 NE 54th St. being deemed a total loss as well. The home at 321 NE 54th St. sustained “minor to moderate” damage as well.
The fire is still under investigation, though no foul play is suspected at this time.
