Oak Island firefighter fired after DWI charge
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — According to personnel records, an Oak Island firefighter/EMT has been fired a week after a DWI charge.
Deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office say Shannon Lee, 45, was cited with a DWI April 1 at around 3:30 a.m.; the citation states Lee’s driver’s license has been revoked for at least 30 days from the offense date.
When contacted for comment, Oak Island Fire Chief Chris Anselmo said the matter was a personnel issue and he would not comment.
According to a public records request, Lee was hired in 2010 as a volunteer before being promoted to part-time then full-time in August of 2013. She was terminated April 8.
