Oak Island man pleads guilty to aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft
WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — An Oak Island man pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft.
Christopher Lee Funk, 34, was arrested May 6, 2014, at his home in the 4200 block of Long Beach Road after a helicopter pilot reported being targeted by a laser pointer. The pilot said the bright green light nearly blinded her, making it difficult for her to safely land the helicopter.
She was able to direct law enforcement to Funk’s home near Cape Fear Regional Jetport.
