Oak Island police respond to weekend death investigation

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The Oak Island Police Department was dispatched to a home on Saturday morning in response to a report of multiple deaths at the residence.
Police arrived just before 11:30 a.m. on Saturday to a home on NE 31st Street and say they found the remains of two adults, one male and one female.
Officials say there was no imminent danger to the community, despite misinformation being shared online.
An exact cause of death will be determined following a full autopsy, along with complete and thorough investigation by the Police Department, with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
