Obama touts economic recovery, downplays ‘doom and despair’ from GOP candidates
President Obama said the “durable” U.S. economy has continued to grow this year and that “Americans are working and getting bigger paychecks.”
Employers added 151,000 jobs in January and the unemployment rate fell to 4.9 percent last month — the first time the jobless rate dipped below 5 percent since February 2008.
“I know that’s still inconvenient for Republican stump speeches as their doom and despair tour plays in New Hampshire. I guess you cannot please everybody,” Obama said today.
