Ocean Isle church hosts crucifixion reenactment for Good Friday

SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — The Seaside Christian Fellowship of Ocean Isle Beach held a re-enactment of the crucifixion while walking down main street in Shallotte. The church’s 11th annual Walk for Jesus is meant to mirror Jesus’ walk to his crucifixion.

Michael Angier, who dressed as Jesus in the re-enactment said the church does this to remind people what good Friday means to Christians.

“It’s not really talked about anymore. Everybody knows it’s Good Friday. You’re off from school, some banks are closed and stuff like that, but it’s not really emphasized,” he said.

Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and the culmination of holy week on easter Sunday.
