Official: Illinois officer’s death will be declared suicide

CHICAGO (AP) — Authorities in northern Illinois plan to announce today that the police officer who radioed that he was chasing three suspicious men before he was found shot dead, actually killed himself.

Authorities had said last month that Fox Lake police Lieutenant Charles Joseph Gliniewicz had been shot with his gun.

His body was found just yards from his squad car.

The September shooting led to a massive manhunt.
