Officials break ground on new Central Pender Park opening this fall
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender County broke ground on a new park off US highway 117 in Burgaw on Thursday.
Burgaw and county officials attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Central Pender Park set to open later this year.
The park will open in phases. Phase one will include paved walking trails, four multi-purpose sports fields, a playground, concession stand, parking, and public restrooms.
Parks and Recreation Director Zach White said the project has been in the works for nearly 6 years.
“This has been a long time coming and this park with certainly serve the citizens of Pender County for many yeas to come so we’re excited about that,” he said.
Phase one of the project is set to open in the fall of this year.
