One dead, one cited in weekend crash near Ash
ASH, NC (WWAY) – The State Highway Patrol has cited a man involved in a collision that took the life of a 27-year-old Ash woman. He also faces charges in the woman’s death.
Highway Patrol responded to the intersection of Ash Little River Road and Whiteville Road just before 6:30 p.m. Friday. They say that’s where Eferen Hernandez of Ash failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by a SUV.
The passenger in Hernandez’s car, 27-year-old Leslie Artega of Ash, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Highway Patrol.
Patrol has not cited the driver of the SUV. They have cited Hernandez with driving without a license and he faces charges of misdemeanor death by a motor vehicle.
