One final goodbye to Echo Farms Golf Course
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Fans of the soon-closing Echo Farms Golf Course in Wilmington got to say one final goodbye to it at an event Saturday.
The Echo Farms Residents Association put on the Tour de Farm, which allowed people to take a stroll through the course or hit a few balls on the putting green and driving range one last time.
Course memorabilia was available through a silent auction.
The air was filled with the sounds of fond memories and stories about a course that was a big part of many people’s lives.
“Living on the course, it was always quite full. Yeah, people loved it. They have good thoughts about it. You don’t really hear too many bad things about the course,” said Echo Farms resident Jill Wolfe.
Back in September, the owners of Echo Farms and its residents reached a settlement after a year long impasse, allowing the golf course to close.
The land will be used for a new housing development.
