One local church provides free COVID-19 testing

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — As we continue to follow CDC guidelines, local churches in our area are providing free COVID testing.

Wednesday the Goshen Medical Center partnered with the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Brunswick County, and other local organizations for free COVID-19 testing.

They set up a mobile site with a drive-thru. This opportunity ended at 7 p.m., but another chance is still available.

You can also get a free test at the church on July 11th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., but you are required to register beforehand.

Pastor David Smith said their goal is to reach as many people as they can.

“We’ve heard a lot of rumors regarding the pandemic, COVID-19, and people are trying to give it to you purposely,” Smith said. “We’re not here to be a part of a rumor. We’re trying to break the cycle of fear. The scripture tells us that God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.”
