Online college commerce saves students cash
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Between books, furniture, supplies, and more, college can be expensive. But now there are websites made just for students to help with some of those costs. Online marketplaces like Flippze or The Campus Market are giving students a chance to get the items they need for class and save some cash as well.
“We have sections from appliances, electronics, books, ride shares for carpooling. We have things where you can try to sublease your apartment,” said Brad Stinson, the Co-Founder of The Campus Market.
Both sites work at UNCW. And as the websites have expanded to more and more universities, more and more students are having the opportunity to buy and sell their items online.
All you need to sign up is a valid university email address.
“Validated that you are in fact active at whatever university that you say you are, and you’re able to access The Campus Market,” said Stinson.
This functions as a safety precaution for the college commerce community.
“So we wanted to make sure that we were providing a safer platform, that it was more convenient that these other websites, that it’s financially beneficial for both the students, and that it’s rewarding as well,” said Geoffrey Fox, the Co-Founder and CEO of Flippze.
The websites are online communities that make paying for college a little easier.
