ONLY ON 3: Woman caught on camera kicking out police car window
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A chaotic scene in downtown Wilmington last night, after a woman kicked through the window of a police car. It was all caught on camera.
Adrianne Bays says it was a calm Monday night in downtown Wilmington until Carrie Mcdonald started yelling at a few police officers around 2 a.m.
“She was saying a lot of offensive things to them. She was kind of calling them out about things they weren’t doing, calling them names, saying that they were asinine,” Bays said.
When police confronted the woman, Bays says McDonald claimed officers were choking and kicking her.
“He’s kicking me. He’s kicking me,” McDonald yelled.
“The officer clearly had his elbows behind his ribs and wasn’t even touching her,” Bays said.
Bays said it took three officers to finally get Mcdonald into the back of the car.
“The cops got a round of applause when they finally got her in the car,” Bays said.
Bays said even that did not slow this woman down. No one at the scene could believe what McDonald did next. McDonald smashed through the back window of the police car, sending glass flying toward one of the officers. Bays says she was just about to walk home, but instead she got to see a show.
“There’s never a dull moment with downtown,” she said. “You never know what you’re going to get.”
The Wilmington Police Department says McDonald faces two counts of injury to personal property, communicating threats, resisting an officer and intoxicated and disruptive charges.
We tried to talk with McDonald in jail today, but she declined our request.
WPD says the police car is now at the shop for repairs.
