Onslow Co. man charged with Surf City car break-ins

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — An Onslow County man is behind bars charged with several car break-ins in Surf City.

Surf City Police Chief Ron Shanahan said several break-ins were reported on the night of June 11. He said police got a tip a few days later linking David Mart Lucas, 27, of Sneads Ferry, to the crimes. Investigators arrested Lucas yesterday.

Shanahan says the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office has helped recover most of the items stolen, which the chief says were found at Lucas’s home.

Lucas is being held in the Pender County jail under a $50,000 bond. He is charged with seven counts of felony breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, seven counts of misdemeanor larceny and one count of felony possession of stolen goods.
