JACKSONVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Earlier this evening, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a threat made by a student at Trexler Middle School.
An investigation was opened immediately, and the student was quickly identified. Deputies responded to the student’s residence to ensure safety and gather more information.
Deputies learned the threat was made towards another student after an argument between both students.
The Sheriff’s Office has received multiple calls regarding concerns about the safety of the surrounding schools in the Richlands area.
Out of an abundance of caution, additional deputies will be present at those schools during student arrival times and throughout the day to ensure the safety and security of all students, staff, and faculty.
The incident remains under investigation. No further information is available at this time.
