Organizers encouraged by turnout for inaugural Brunswick Agricultural Fair
ASH, NC (WWAY) — Organizers behind the first-ever Brunswick County Agricultural Fair say they’re encouraged by the turnout for the multi-day event.
The festival features a tent with cows, goats, and other livestock on display, as well as two tents for vendors.
A group of 4-H students even showed several Brunswick County Commissioners how to present a cow, with Commissioner Randy Thompson and Pat Sykes taking part.
There are plenty of rides available, from a Ferris wheel to a merry-go-round to the Cyclone.
Thompson said the fair has been a great success and is happy to see so many people come out for it.
Friday was the third night of the fair, with hundreds of people coming out for the event.
Organizer Allyson Newcomb said she wishes one person had been able to attend.
“It’s really bittersweet, this is something that my mom wanted to be a part of as well,” Newcomb said. “She passed away earlier this year in the process of this. And so we are holding this in memory of her, as well. There’s a couple of signs around that say that. But it’s super special that we get to be a part of bringing it to Brunswick County for the first time ever.”
The fair continues Friday from 11 am to 11 pm and on Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm.
