Orton Plantation conducting prescribed burn Monday

WINNABOW, NC (WWAY) — Orton is conducting permitted prescribed season burning on 132 acres Monday as part of its management plan to improve forest health and restore longleaf pine habitat.

The burn will be completed around 4:00 p.m.

Orton’s annual prescribed fire regimen, together with the efforts of local partners, plays a significant role in a larger, range-wide public-private effort to build resilience in this special habitat.
