Outdoor fun and fitness offered at Hugh MacRae Park for a good cause

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Parks Conservancy of New Hanover County and local fitness organizations took over Hugh MacRae Park Saturday morning, all for a good cause.

People were invited to soak up the nice weather with some outdoor fun and fitness.

Yoga, boot camp, cardio tennis, and kickboxing were among the classes offered.

All of the proceeds from the event will go towards improvements to the county parks.

The Conservancy is currently trying to add an obstacle course at Northern Regional Park in Castle Hayne.

“We have beautiful parks in Wilmington that are really well maintained and I think it’s a great way to get people out,” said Justin Gibson, a Parks Conservancy board member. “One of the things I love about living in this city is that, anytime the weather is remotely nice, our citizens are out doing stuff and they’re doing it in our parks and so we’re here to promote that.”

The Parks Conservancy’s next event is a Trash Mob on March 10th at Parkwood Recreation Area. Volunteers are needed to come pick up litter and keep New Hanover County clean.
