Over 10,000 people attended the Southport Spring Festival
SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — We are now a few weeks into the spring season and that means the annual Southport Spring festival.
Every Easter weekend the Southport-Oak Island Kiwanis Club and Downtown Southport, Inc. hosts this 2 day long festival at the Franklin Square Park in Southport.
Organizers say there was over 160 crafters, at least 10 local food vendors, and local entertainment.
Peggy McDonald is the President of the Southport-Oak Island Kiwanis Club and she says this event attracts families from all over the region.
“We have calculated that we get about 14,000 people each year that comes to the park over the 2 days of the festival,” said McDonald.
The Southport Police Department gave away 3 bicycles and 1 car seat in a free raffle.
This is the 12th year for the annual event and all the proceeds from the event go to support programs for youth in Brunswick County.
