Overflo raises more funds for Florence victims

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Local businesses are trying to find unique ways to continue to support local charities in desperate need. Saturday, 2nd street was overflowing with music, drinks and family fun.

Downtown Wilmington independent business owners joined together to support local charities including Nourish NC, Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, The Good Shepherd, The Salvation Army, Random Acts, The Harrelson Center and others.

Coordinator Beth Crookham says if you spot an Overflo sticker in a downtown restaurant window that’s your chance to participate and support that businesses fundraising initiative whether it be a special discount or donation opportunity.

“A bunch of downtown independent business owners said how do we do something to help and how do we pull our voices together to do something bigger than we can do on our own and so today is our music overflow,” said Beth.

The concert features performances from six local bands including Phantom Playboys, The Ratchet Brothers, Jim Quick and Coastline, Onward, Soldiers and The Dung Beatles.

Crookham says all of them have offered their time in support of those affected by Hurricane Florence.
