Painting horse delivers Valentine’s Day cards to Wilmington nursing home
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Some nursing home residents got a special treat Thursday, as they received some early Valentine’s Day Cards made by a horse.
Sueño is a mustang ambassador for ‘I am Herd,’ a non-profit sanctuary for formerly wild horses. Her name is Spanish for dream.
Bradley Creek Nursing Home residents got to hear all about the mustang before getting their custom Valentines painted by Sueño.
One resident, Christine Rouse, says this wasn’t her first time seeing a horse in the lobby.
“We went last time he came, and they wanted to come back and see him,” Rouse said. “And my husband, of course, really wanted to see him, so that’s why I’m here.”
Residents also got to pet and take pictures with Sueño. Her handler, Mary Miller Jordan, says she also takes Sueño and other horses to inner-city schools, safe houses, and shelters.
