Pair of churches vandalized, crimes believed to be connected


BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY)  – The Brunswick County Sheriff’s office says two churches had their windows smashed in over the weekend in Brunswick County.

Blackwell Chapel AME Church

The Sheriff’s Office says unknown suspects used an object to damage several windows at Blackwell Chapel AME Church on Blackwell Road in Leland. Less than a half mile down the road in Belville, two windows were damaged at Providence Missionary Church on Chappell Loop Road.

The Sheriff’s office says no one entered either church and they believe both churches were damaged by the same people.

The investigation remains open and ongoing.
