Parents sue Charter Day School over dress code

WILMINGTON (StarNews) — The parents of three students enrolled at Charter Day School and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) have filed a federal lawsuit claiming the school’s uniform dress code unfairly discriminates against girls.

Charter Day School, in Leland, requires that girls wear skirts, “skorts” or jumper dresses except specified days, such as for physical education classes or special circumstances allowing girls to wear pants, according to the school’s dress code. Boys are permitted to wear pants or shorts.
