Passengers still hospitalized following crash involving deputy


NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) —  Two passengers injured in the crash involving a Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputy remain in the hospital.

One is in serious condition. New Hanover Regional said the other person remains in fair condition.

The crash happened Wednesday in New Hanover County on 421 near the Isabel Holmes Bridge.

A sheriff’s deputy and a sheriff’s office volunteer were transporting two involuntary commitment patients when the wreck happened.

The sheriff’s deputy had surgery last week.

The Highway Patrol charged the driver of the other vehicle.
