Pastor reflects on Billy Graham’s impact on people

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The mark Billy Graham left on people in the Cape Fear is unimaginable. For some pastors in the area, it’s hard to imagine a world without the man some call “America’s Pastor.”

Dave Holt is a pastor with Mission Wilmington. Holt says Graham was a huge influence on him and the work he does. He said he’s never seen someone with the same kind of influence on Christianity and society like Graham. He remembers hearing Graham in Boone years ago and says his words just had an affect on him and others who were there.

“As he spoke and just think of the millions and millions and millions of people that he was able to speak with and the consistency of his message, I think which was just surrounded by love for people was just amazing. It just was evident. You could feel it in the air. It was palpable,” Holt said.

Holt said Graham’s impact went beyond his crusades and he’s noticed many people sharing how Graham changed their lives. Holt says Billy Graham is achieving one thing Christians always desired to be with God in the end.
