Pastor says he forgives thieves who broke into cars during service
STEDMAN, N.C. (WNCN) — A Cumberland County pastor says he forgives the thieves who deputies said broke into cars parked at his church for Sunday services.
Cumberland County Sheriff Ennis Wright said on Twitter Monday afternoon that several cars were broken into at Stedman Baptist Church, located at 7750 Clinton Rd.
“Forgiveness. Forgiveness, yes. God’s forgiven me, and I would like to forgive them,” said Pastor Philip Spears
Spears said there were as many as 100 people inside the church for Sunday school service when three men in two cars pulled into the parking lot.
“Some people consider this a soft target — that they can come while we’re in here in Sunday school or a worship service, and that we don’t know what’s going on,” Spears said.
