PBA Xtra Frame Wilmington Open happening this weekend

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Some of the country’s best bowlers are in the Port City this weekend for the PBA Xtra Frame Wilmington Open.

This is the second year the tournament has come to the Port City.

The tournament got rolling Friday night with the Pro-Am event at Ten Pin Alley in Wilmington.

Dozens of fans came out to watch the professionals and engage in some friendly competition.

Last year it was Anthony Simonsen who took home the top prize in the Xtra Frames Tournament.

Simonsen said he’s happy to be back in Wilmington and hopes to bring it home once again.

“It’s always fun to come back and defend any tournament, you know the crowd here is a nice turnout,” Simonsen said. “It’s nice to come to centers that get a lot of people supporting us.”

The first round of the competition begins Saturday at 9 a.m. at Ten Pin Alley in Wilmington. The tournament continues through Sunday.
