Pender Co. woman fighting breast cancer treated to day of pampering

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It was a relaxing Friday for an area woman whose life has been turned upside down because of her health.

Pender County resident Kelly Spino is currently undergoing treatment for stage IV metastatic breast cancer so a day filled with just treating herself is quite the gift.

It was made possible through Lump to Laughter‘s program called ‘The Beauty of Hope’.

The organization connects women battling breast cancer with helpful resources while also building strong relationships.

Spino got the royal treatment with services all donated by the community.

She started with a facial at Wilmington Plastic Surgery. She was taken by VIP limo to Head to Toe Day Spa for a manicure, pedicure, and make up. Her hair was then styled by Salon Beyond Basics. An evening/cocktail gown was donated by The Wedding Dress Shoppe for a photo session by Chris Brehemer Photography of Spino all dressed up.

One of the glam photos will be printed on canvas and be on display at the organization’s Beauty of Hope Gala on December 1.
Spino will join the growing list of strong women who will be presented on the Wall of Hope.
