Pender Commission welcomes new member, approves Commerce Park land sale

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Pender-Topsail Post & Voice reports a new tenant is coming to the Pender Commerce Park, while a new member joins the county commission.

County commissioners last night approved selling 15 acres of the land off US 421 near the New Hanover County line to a beverage distributor. Empire Distributors of North Carolina, which distributes beer, wine and other products, is the park’s second tenant along with Acme Smoked Fish Corporation.

Empire will pay $450,000 for the land.

Also at last night’s meeting, a new member joined the commission. Democrat Demetrice Keith took her oath of office to finish out Jimmy Tate’s term.

Tate resigned last month to move to Duplin county for a job. Keith’s term expires in November 2016.
